Alaskan Airlines has become the latest U.S. carrier to announce new flights to the coastal hotspot of Puerto Vallarta from Las Vegas this winter amid soaring travel demand.

The Mexican Pacific city is currently one of the trendiest locations in the entire country as evidenced by its skyrocketing visitor numbers and multiple travel awards.

With demand for Puerto Vallarta expected to increase further during the winter season, more and more U.S. carriers are increasing the availability of flights to the popular destination.

Soaring demand has prompted Alaskan Airlines to launch a new nonstop route to the sunny city this winter from its Las Vegas hub starting on December 14th. The launching of the new route coincides with the start of the extremely busy winter season, which sees hundreds and thousands of travelers flock south in search of warm weather and some of the world’s top beaches.

Alaskan Airlines announced that it would operate the route four times per week, providing a massive travel boost to Puerto Vallarta and further increasing the airline’s growing network of international flights.

According to airline executives, the new nonstop flights from Las Vegas are mainly targeted at travelers living on the Pacific coast of the United States, a market area that is particularly keen on vacationing in Puerto Vallarta.

Alaskan Airlines is currently one of the most significant U.S. carriers operating in Puerto Vallarta International Airport, with weekly nonstop departures from key U.S. hubs including Seattle-Tacoma and Los Angeles International Airport.

The airline, which is one of the oldest in the United States, has ramped up frequencies to Puerto Vallarta to meet soaring traveler demand. Even though airline officials recognize that Puerto Vallarta competes with similar Pacific destinations, including Los Cabos, the coastal hotspot offers a unique experience for travelers that is unlike anything else found in Mexico.
