One particular destination that has seen its popularity skyrocket is the Rincón de Guayabitos area, a stunning resort area that boasts an excellent assortment of hotels and resorts as well as a vibrant culture that captivates first-time visitors.

The scenic hotspot is one of the hottest destinations in the Riviera Nayarit area this winter, especially among U.S. travelers, who constitute the overwhelming majority of all visitors in the region.

Situated around an hour north of Puerto Vallarta, the sunny town of Rincón de Guayabitos is attracting a huge number of travelers this winter as Americans head south in search of warmer weather.

This coastal town of some 3,000 residents is one of many quaint villages dotted along the 200-mile-long Riviera Nayarit. Known for having one of the most spectacular white-sand beaches in the region, Guayabitos is a haven for sun-seeking travelers, with dozens of hotels and resorts offering high-quality accommodations amid stunning scenery.

Guayabitos is also one of the best destinations in the Riviera Nayarit for cultural travel. The small town is renowned for its local delicacies, which include the likes of fried bananas and more sugary concoctions like shaved ice. 

A hotspot for nature lovers, Guayabitos is surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery, providing a unique gateway for hiking tours and excursions. With visitor numbers in the popular destination set to grow further this year, the local tourism industry is constantly evolving to meet evolving travel needs. Far from resting on its laurels, the small destination is looking for new ways to provide meaningful experiences for travelers that focus on local culture and flavors.

According to Benito Castillo Lerma, the head of the Compostela Hotel Association, over a thousand employees in the sun-drenched hotspot have already received extensive customer service training to improve guest relations for the upcoming winter season.

Among other things, officials have sought to improve the quality of tours and excursions, bolster hygiene protocols, and deter redouble efforts to promote the destination internationally.

And those efforts are now paying off, with an estimated 30,000 travelers set to flock to the resort town over the coming months. And although that number is far smaller than the likes of Puerto Vallarta or Nuevo Vallarta, Guayabitos is an excellent alternative for travelers seeking a laid-back experience.
