A massive new resort project has just been announced in Puerto Vallarta as the city continues to climb in popularity with travelers.

Offering a unique mix of powdery beaches and towering mountain landscapes, the Puerto Vallarta region is one of the fastest-growing resort destinations in Mexico as evidenced by the location’s skyrocketing travel figures. 

Slated for opening in 2026, the brand new Six Senses Xala will offer a breathtaking oasis of tranquility nestled amidst Jalisco’s beautiful coastline.

Luxury travel is one of the fastest-growing segments within Puerto Vallarta’s booming tourism industry. Travelers have been flocking to the scenic region for decades, attracted by its pristine beaches and safe city streets.

While the coastal hotspot already boasts an excellent array of luxurious accommodations, a new stunning resort project has recently been announced as part of the wider Xala area, a massive 3,000-acre terrain.

The new developments will be built in the Costalegre sub-region, which is known for its astonishing variety of sandy beaches and rugged coastline. Much like other projects in the area, Xala will be a fully-private high-end sanctuary complete with an exclusive airport and several lavish properties. 

This week, Six Senses released more details about its latest Mexican Pacific undertaking, which will significantly transform luxury travel in the growing hub. Six Senses Xala will be a 51-suite resort in the secluded nature of Jalisco’s coast.

The upscale retreat will focus on restorative and wellness travel, offering guests a unique opportunity to unwind surrounded by nature and majestic views.

With a focus on local culture – especially locally sourced organic produce – and sustainability, the new property will blend seamlessly with the verdant nature that characterizes the beautiful region. 

Although Six Senses Xala will only offer 51 villas, each guest unit comes with a private pool and gorgeous ocean or nature views. Travelers will be able to opt for one to three-bedroom configurations, making the new property an excellent choice for a romantic retreat or a family-friendly getaway.

When it comes to on-site activities, the new high-end resort will boast a variety of nature-inspired and dynamic experiences for guests to enjoy. From surfing lessons to multi-day yoga retreats, the resort’s concierge services will offer a highly personalized experience to meet every guest’s demand.

Meanwhile, travelers wishing for a more permanent experience can opt for the 100 or so private residences, which are also planned for the massive project. Although few details have been released about the pricing and timeline for the new residential units, it is expected that they will constitute a separate although related part of the new project.

Xala is expected to be one of the costliest luxury resort and residences projects to date in the Puerto Vallarta region. At an estimated cost of nearly a billion dollars, the massive undertaking will transform high-end travel in the sun-drenched region.
