Mexico is, without a doubt, one of the most popular destinations for the winter holidays among American tourists. This is largely due to its proximity to the States as well as its party vibes.

Among all its municipalities, Puerto Vallarta is now becoming more and more popular among tourists every day. But how are people celebrating the beginning of the new year here?

Here is how Puerto Vallarta’s tourists are planning to ring in the new year.

Puerto Vallarta’s New Year’s Eve celebrations

Puerto Vallarta authorities have decided to welcome the new year with great fanfare. The municipal government has in fact organized a great event which will take place in the heart of the city.

The program will start at 6:00 pm in the vicinity of the Arcos del Malecón, with the presentation of the northern group Los Tres del Ranchito, which will play until 7:30 pm.

At this time, the band will be replaced by another local group, which will play the typical mariachi music.

These local melodies date back to the 18th century and are played by a huge number of musicians, usually consisting of eight violinists, two trumpets, and at least a guitar.

These groups are also often accompanied by other local instruments, including the vihuela, a string instrument known for its high pitch, and a guitarrón, an acoustic bass guitar.

Mariachi groups are surely worth seeing, especially for those who want to learn more about Mexican culture. In their performances, all players take turns singing the main part as well as the backup vocals in the creation of a unique show.

At 8:15 pm, the Vallarta Band Komando MR will perform another music genre, mixing Latin rhythms with traditional Mexican sound. The band will perform for almost two hours until 10.15 pm.

At this time, the stage will welcome Los Dináticos, playing a mix of Latin American genres ranging from cumbia to salsa, grupera, and more.

Several thousands of tourists and locals are expected to participate in the event and the Puerto Vallarta’s police are now making sure all the necessary safety measures will be put in place.

What to do on the next day

But what can tourists do once the local celebrations are over? Thankfully, Puerto Vallarta offers plenty of activities for all types of visitors.
