The average hotel occupancy rate is a useful metric of a location’s popularity. It measures the average number of rooms sold out during a given period.

This winter, nearly 85% of all accommodations in Puerto Vallarta are expected to be sold out, placing the Mexican Pacific destination as the busiest in the country.

That figure is all the more impressive considering that it’s higher than Cancun’s 80%, and significantly above that of Los Cabos, at 71%.

That means that Puerto Vallarta is currently the most successful destination in Mexico, with travelers flocking to the city from across North America.

Travelers are especially keen on enjoying the location’s spectacular culture, including its award-winning culinary scene, as well as its array of centrally-located beaches.

From enhanced security & customs protocols at Puerto Vallarta airport to stricter beach safety, a wide range of measures are in place to protect millions of travelers. 

Several other locations north of Puerto Vallarta, including the spectacular Riviera Nayarit are also seeing a surge in popularity.

Locations like Rincón de Gauabitos and Sayulita offer respite from Puerto Vallarta’s crowds, as well as dozens of boutique properties and smaller luxury resorts.
