Data refers to the first ten months of 2023, specifically the period going from January 2023 to October 2023.

The observations were made monitoring 70 centers, which registered a 59.3% occupancy rate. This is roughly 3.4% more compared to the same period last year.

But why do people keep choosing this destination for their holidays?

Mexico is often depicted as a generous country where tourists constantly need to pay attention to their valuable belongings.

While some areas are undeniably dangerous, it would be wrong to consider the whole country unsafe for tourists.

There are plenty of places in Mexico that are extremely safe and Puerto Vallarta is surely one of them. Not by chance, this city is often ranked among the safest in the country, according to national reports and studies.

The Puerto Vallarta government is regularly putting in place new initiatives to protect tourists and locals alike.

For instance, just a few days ago, local authorities declared they would increase police controls for the winter season when plenty of tourists from all over the world come to this area to enjoy the warm weather.

Similarly, the local government decided to increase safety on the main beaches in the area to keep bathers safe at all times.

Breathtaking beaches

Puerto Vallarta is home to a variety of great beaches featuring amazing services and incredibly clean water.

For instance, Boca de Tomates is a stretch of sand close to Puerto Vallarta International Airport. This beach is very popular among families, especially during the weekend, as it hosts plenty of events with live music and other entertainment.

Playa de Oro is another great option. This area was awarded a Blue Flag International Certification and is ideal for practicing all sorts of sports, from jet skiing to parasailing, beach volleyball, horseback riding, and more.

Lastly, Malecon Beach is the ideal place for those not interested in getting in the water as this area is not swimmable. People here can relax watching a romantic sunset, build sand castles with their children, or enjoy a refreshing cocktail with friends.

Of course, these are only some of the options available in Puerto Vallarta. Other popular beaches in the area include Las Glorias, Los Muertos, and Palmares Beach, just to mention a few.

Activities galore

Lastly, people often choose Puerto Vallarta for their holidays due to the many activities offered by this area.

Let’s start with the most obvious one. Visitors here will be able to practice a variety of water sports ranging from surfing to kitesurfing and more.

For those who prefer to immerse themselves in the Mexican unspoiled nature, Puerto Vallarta offers a variety of national areas ideal for hiking.

People can choose whether to reach the Mirador La Cruz del Cerro from which they can have the most stunning view of the city, try the coastal trail starting from Bocas de Tomatlan, or check out the Yelapa Waterfall Hikes.

Another great spot to check out is the newly opened Jorullo Viewpoint. Located in the Canopy Ecotourism complex, this massive bridge is entirely made of glass, giving visitors the impression of being suspended in the air.

Lastly, Puerto Vallarta is the perfect destination for those wanting to discover authentic Mexican culture. With small villages such as Sayulita, San Pancho, and Yelapa, tourists have plenty of choices.

Here people can not only learn everything from this ancient culture but also escape the huge crowds characterizing Puerto Vallarta in the winter season.
